Bamfield, BC at a Glance
The love of land and sea prevails in Bamfield, located in Pacific
Rim National Park on the west coast of Vancouver
Island. Fishing, hiking, beachcombing and birdwatching are all offered in
this quiet village. Ample learning opportunities are provided at the Bamfield
Marine Sciences Centre, where visitors can partake in group fieldtrips and
learn about the latest coastal research. Spend some time in Hitchie
Creek Provincial Park, which contains old-growth rainforest and is a great
place to spot black bears, Roosevelt elk and cougars. View Pachena
Point Lighthouse, the last original wood lighthouse tower on Canada's
west coast which features a 1000-watt bulb that emits light similar to that of
4 million candles and can be seen from Washington
State's Olympic Peninsula.
